Location should create context, not exposure.

Usual is designed so shared places can improve an introduction without revealing where someone is, when they visit, or how to find them.

Safety begins before the match.

  • No live location

Other users never see where you are right now.

  • No people maps

Usual does not display nearby users on a map.

  • No venue searching

A user cannot search for a gym, restaurant, café, school, neighborhood, or other place and see who goes there.

  • No exact schedules

Usual does not reveal visit dates, times, frequency, or predictable routines.

  • Sensitive places are excluded

Home, work, schools, medical facilities, shelters, addiction treatment facilities, places of worship, and other sensitive destinations are not used for matching.

  • Mutual control

Exact shared venue names are revealed only after a match and only when both users permit it.

Account and identity protections

Safety systems should include:

  • Phone or email verification
  • Profile-photo moderation

  • Automated and manual abuse detection
  • Spam and scam detection
  • Reporting and blocking
  • Rate limits on likes and messages
